Day 21
Mileage: 25 (to and around Missoula)
From: Lolo, MT
To: Missoula, MT
Today we did laundry in Lolo, then came to Missoula, dropped off Lauren’s prescription at Walmart, went to the library, and then chilled out around Missoula. We were going to stay in an overpriced KOA outside of Missoula tonight for lack of a better campsite. We had already sucked it up and made reservations earlier. But then this afternoon we went for ice cream at “Big Dipper Ice Cream” and got to talking to a family—Glenn, Jen, and Rhen (their little daughter). Eventually, the topic of where we were staying came up, and they said the KOA was lousy and on the edge of town.
Per usual, they offered for us to camp in their yard, but once we showed up they put us up in a little guest room off of the garage. Lauren and I shared a bed, and dad slept on the floor. We even had internet access! It was nice to get to use the internet again, because our time at the library was cut short on account of it closing early on Sunday.
Glenn/Jen/Rhen had things to do, so we parked our stuff in their garage, and then went out to the movies! We saw “Knocked Up.” It was sort of weird being indoors for that long. It was also weird riding our bikes unloaded and without bike clothes. I kept trying to clip out of my pedals, but I was wearing Crocs.
We didn’t eat 500 meals for once today! Get this: 1 breakfast, 1 lunch at Taco Time, popcorn at the movies, and then McDonalds. Much less ridiculous than usual.
